Our
Research

The Geology Lab serves as a focal point for exploring the fascinating intersections of art, design, and science. The lab provides students with opportunities to delve deeper into their interests beyond the curriculum, particularly in fields such as geography and architecture, where they can explore the close relationships between these disciplines. Students can lead their own research projects or investigate the research projects we propose.

Exploring Pore Characteristics in Metamorphic Rock Reservoirs: A Key to Sustainable Resource Management

In metamorphic rock reservoirs, pore characteristics are relatively underexplored compared to other types of reservoirs. Current research focuses primarily on fracture characterization and well logging identification, with limited studies on the pore characteristics of metamorphic rock reservoirs and the factors influencing them. In this lab, students research metamorphic rock's the pore structure and its influence on storing oil or gas in these rocks. This is helpful to understand sustainbility of rock.Rocks with good porosity and permeability are more sustainable as they can hold larger amounts of oil or gas and allow for easier extraction. Understanding these characteristics helps in managing and conserving these natural resources more effectively.
